{"id":796,"date":"2016-02-08T04:12:52","date_gmt":"2016-02-08T04:12:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/?p=796"},"modified":"2020-01-13T06:09:08","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T06:09:08","slug":"long-island-principal-proves-misogyny-with-hate-tweets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/es\/long-island-principal-proves-misogyny-with-hate-tweets\/","title":{"rendered":"Long Island Principal Proves Misogyny with Hate Tweets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Island, NY &#8211; A group of teachers at a Long Island charter school has filed suit against the principal accusing him of misogyny and bias.<\/p>\n<p>According to the court documents, Raymond Ankrum unleashed a series of tweets on the popular social media site Twitter expressing his opinions of <a href=\"https:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/employment-law\/sexual-harassment\/gay-and-lesbian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gays<\/a>, older people, and light-skinned black women.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond Ankrum&#8217;s\u00a0tweets were posted on Twitter under the username RayQRubio.<\/p>\n<p>Ankrum, the principal of Riverhead Charter School since 2012 has not denied the hate-laced tweets; he just believes the twitter rants have nothing to do with his job, says his attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Some of his tweets read as follows:<\/p>\n<p>An unattractive girl w\/ a designer bag has better credit than an attractive girl w\/ a designer bag.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watching the Grammy\u2019s(sic) in 3d. Does JLo have the ill pouch or na I\u2019d still whip tho.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI realize most of my tweets go way over the heads of most, it\u2019s fine, you can thank me when you get it. Could be months, even years.\u201d \u201cI hate dumb people. People who ride the \u2018Jerry Bus or is it the \u2018yellow bus,\u2019 either way you\u2019re an idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ankrum\u2019s attorney not only represents him, but she represents the school as well.\u00a0 She says \u201cWhen read in context, they have nothing to do with the Riverhead Charter School or its employees.\u00a0 My clients are greatly offended by this latest attempt at professional and personal character assassination through litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suit was originally filed in August in state court; it alleged that Ankrum shifted out the older teachers and brought in younger ones whom he found easier to control.\u00a0 However, last month the suit was moved to federal court in consideration of the tweets that had surfaced.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations against Ankrum included accusations of him having an \u201cagenda\u201d to carry out; one that involves the enhancement of education for minority students by <a href=\"https:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/aop\/harassment\/lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">removing white female teachers <\/a>in the school over the age of 40 and also ridiculing teachers over the age of 40.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs indicate that the principal\u2019s tweets are more than enough evidence to prove his misogyny.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney for the teachers made a statement advising that when a jury sees the tweets from Ankrum, they will recognize that the school was a <a href=\"https:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/employment-law\/sexual-harassment\/hostile-work-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hostile work environment.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He added \u201cIn today\u2019s world we hold students responsible for their off-campus actions and writings. We hold them liable for bullying on computers and smartphones.
