{"id":3101,"date":"2017-11-10T16:15:49","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T21:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/?p=3101"},"modified":"2019-12-04T17:47:05","modified_gmt":"2019-12-04T17:47:05","slug":"not-even-npr-is-immune-from-sexual-harassment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/es\/not-even-npr-is-immune-from-sexual-harassment\/","title":{"rendered":"Not Even NPR is Immune from Sexual Harassment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New York, NY &#8211; <\/strong>On October 31, 2017, Michael Oreskes, the chief editor at National Public Radio (commonly known as \u201cNPR\u201d) resigned following multiple allegations of sexual harassment.\u00a0Oreskes had joined NPR in 2015, and the accusations against occurred long before he joined NPR.\u00a0Oreskes is the latest media figure to confront allegations of sexual harassment and be forced to step down.<\/p>\n<p>Back in the 1990s when Oreskes was the Washington Bureau Chief of the New York Times, he allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/employment-law\/sexual-harassment\/unwanted-physical-contact\/\">forcibly kissed two different<\/a> journalists in meetings. Both of there female journalists said that they only met Oreskes under the pretext of career advice and possible career opportunities when he suddenly kissed them on the lips.<\/p>\n<p>The victims, who remain anonymous, brought their unfortunate stories to NPR\u2019s attention only recently. Although these claims likely fall out any statutes of limitation, barring them from the court, the claims are nonetheless serious and are being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>The day after his resignation, Oreskes stated that he was deeply sorry for the people he had hurt and added, &#8220;My behavior was wrong and inexcusable, and I accept full responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the claims against him from the 1990s, two years ago Oreskes was involved in another incident of sexual harassment involving an <a href=\"https:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/employment-law\/sexual-harassment\/co-worker\/\">NPR\u00a0female producer<\/a>, Rebecca Hersher. Hersher complained that she at a 2015 dinner with Oreskes he talked about sex and inquired about her personal life.
