{"id":277,"date":"2014-07-07T19:24:24","date_gmt":"2014-07-07T19:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/?p=277"},"modified":"2019-12-03T18:27:43","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T18:27:43","slug":"dateline-producer-used-as-sexual-bait","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.discriminationandsexualharassmentlawyers.com\/es\/dateline-producer-used-as-sexual-bait\/","title":{"rendered":"Dateline: Producer Used as \u201cSexual Bait\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A New York woman filed suit against <i>Dateline<\/i> NBC for allegedly using her as \u201c<strong>sexual bait.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A <i>magna cum laude<\/i> graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Kimberly Lengle was hired by the television news magazine <i>Dateline<\/i> in 2012. Though employed as a producer, Ms. Lengle found the responsibilities of her position had more to do with her gender than her reporting ability.<br \/>\nIn May of this year, Ms. Lengle filed suit against <i>Dateline<\/i> and her former supervisor, Dan Slepian, for alleged actions that include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Ms. Lengle was repeatedly assigned to stories requiring her to engage in sexual role play. As a producer on the series entitled \u201cWild Wild Web,\u201d Ms. Lengle was asked to place and respond to sex ads. Ms. Lengle stated she was \u201cabused,\u201d \u201cridiculed\u201d and \u201cthreatened\u201d when she voiced concern over the work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>In her lawsuit, Ms. Lengle alleges her supervisor, Mr. Slepian, criticized her for not dressing in a promiscuous manner and for failing to provide nude photographs of herself to use in responding to sex ads. Ms. Lengle reports Mr. Slepian threatened to fire her when she refused to provide a photograph of herself in response to a Craigslist ad looking for a \u201chuman punching bag.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Ms. Lengle engaged in secretly filmed meetings for sexually-themed episodes of <i>Dateline<\/i> that never aired. Ms. Lengle was assigned to work in a Las Vegas brothel and track down an Internet Lothario named at NBC as the \u201cSperminator.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Involvement in sexually-charged reporting was not a requirement of male counterparts of Ms. Lengle at NBC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When she approached NBC management, Ms. Lengle was told she did not need to perform work she found uncomfortable. She eventually resigned when human resources at NBC refused to intervene. NBC has since stated the claims of Ms. Lengle are without merit.
